Based on the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) data in 2018, Gonystylus bancanus, or better known in Indonesia as Ramin, is threatened with extinction due to overexploitation for commercial purposes, unsustainable deforestation, habitat degradation and forest conversion.
