An Industry First: Asia Pulp & Paper Mills Achieve SVLK Certification, Indonesia’s New World-Class Legality Verification Standard
Asia Pulp & Paper Group (APP) today announced that three of its mills have secured SVLK certification, marking the first pulp and paper mills in Indonesia to achieve certification under the country’s new Wood Legality Verification System. The certifications were granted in a ceremony hosted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry in Jakarta today.
The Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF) hosted the ‘Responsible Procurement in China’s Forest Products (Pulp and Paper), Certification Workshop 2012’ in Shenzhen, China on June 29, along with PEFC China, the DNV Sustainability Center, as well as Green China magazine. At the event, representatives from the State Forestry Administration of China (SFA) stressed that the nation’s forest certification standard – the China Forest Certification Council (CFCC) – has been established and remains adhered to the highest standards of sustainable forest management, and called on countries worldwide to adopt CFCC-certified products in their national procurement policies.
