Pandeglang, 14 January, 2019 – PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (IKPP) Tbk – Tangerang Mills, a business unit of Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas, and the South Tangerang City Government, distributed aid to survivors of the Sunda Strait tsunami.
The aid was given directly by the Kholisul Fatikhin, Head of Sustainability IKPP – Tangerang Mills, who was accompanied by South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany to Pandeglang District Head Irna Narulita at the Pandeglang District Government Hall.
Kholisul said that the aid was a manifest of the company’s concerns for the survivors of the tsunami in the Sunda Strait and the Districts of Pandeglang and Serang. “We are truly concerned about the calamity that has befallen the communities in Banten and Lampung, especially for those who have lost love ones. We hope that this aid will mitigate some of the hardship.”
The assistance consisted of 1.000 blankets, 300 boxes of instant noodles and two tons of rice. These were then delivered to the logistics station Kadu Hejo, Pandeglang.
In her speech, South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany expressed her sorrow on the occurrence of the tsunami on the coasts of Banten and Lampung. “May the survivors be given fortitude and strength.” According to her, the assistance given to survivors of the disaster is a form of caring for others. The aid was a donation by communities and companies in South Tangerang City (IKPP – Tangerang Mills provided logistics).
Pandeglang Distric Head Irna Narulita conveyed her appreciation for the aid provided by IKPP – Tangerang Mills to the tsunami survivors. “The number of logistics warehouses used for the survivors of the tsunami had gone down, but it has now increased with Indah Kiat’s help. ”
Irna added that there is still currently a lack of logistics for the daily needs of survivors and the construction of infrastructure. “What is certain is that we are very grateful to the company and the people of South Tangerang who have provided assistance to the survivors of the tsunami. This assistance from South Tangerang is extraordinary.”
