Jakarta, December 7, 2017 - Asian Games 2018 are getting closer and the preparation of the venues for the events continues both in Palembang and in Jakarta.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla visited a number of venues for Asian Games 2018 in Palembang in early December. The first place Jusuf Kalla reviewed was the Bowling Center Building built by Asia Pulp & Paper (APP). "The progress of the development of the bowling venue was extraordinary and completed earlier than planned," said Jusuf Kalla.
"The role of APP could serve as a reference or example for other private companies in supporting government programs," he added.
Meanwhile, Sinar Mas managing director Saleh Husin said Sinar Mas through its business unit APP, one of the Asian Games sponsors, considers its investment in the sports venues to be a long-term investment.
APP built the bowling center at a cost of more than 26 billion rupiah. The bowling center will be handed over to the committee of the Asian Games in early 2018. In addition, as a sponsor, APP is committed to contributing US$4 million to the multisport event. APP also provides in-kind support by providing Sinar Dunia photocopy paper as the official paper and Paseo tissue as the official tissue for the Asian Games.
In addition, Sinar Mas through its property business unit Sinarmas Land also facilitated the renovation of 16 sports buildings in Jakarta and surrounding areas for the Asian Games, at a total cost of Rp 70 billion.
With the support of Sinar Mas, Indonesia is expected to have a number of sports facilities with international standards. In the long term, not only athletes but the public will also be able to utilize them.
