Asia Pulp & Paper’s Foopak Wins 2018 Green Supply Chain Award

Jakarta, Indonesia  - 12 December 2018 - Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) is pleased to announce that its Foopak Bio Natura compostable packaging solution has won a 2018 Green Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies that make sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy and assist their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.

Foopak Bio Natura cup stock is FDA-certified and meets the standards of the FTC’s Green Guides for compostability. Testing by the Isega Institute shows scientific evidence the stock can completely break down and return to nature by decomposing in a matter of 12 weeks.

The 10th annual award program honored APP’s commitment to providing its customers with high-quality, sustainable paper packaging solutions via its Bio Natura suite. As part of a strategic partnership with Paptech, a full-service printing and packaging manufacturer in Mexico, M. Sushi, a chain of more than 50 fast casual restaurants in Mexico, has crafted a suite of packaging for its takeout food using APP’s Bio Natura compostable paperboard. The revamped packaging ensures product integrity using a proprietary water-based coating and can be  safely composted in a facility or home compost pile.

“A core value of APP, sustainability is embedded throughout our operation including our products and development,” said Felix Koh, Senior Vice President and Global Business Unit Head, APP.“We are happy to partner with companies like Paptech to deliver packaging solutions that combine both functionality and sustainability to meet consumers’ demands.”

“This year’s award recipients place critical emphasis on green initiatives within their companies and supply chains,” says John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “Entries provide examples of innovative approaches and impressive metrics of sustainability programs.”

APP joins the ranks of past Green Supply Chain Award winners including Elemica, Tyco Retail Solutions, CBS Corporation and ALOM.
