About Us Description

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas es un nombre comercial de una empresa de fabricación de papel y pasta de papel que ofrece productos de calidad para satisfacer la creciente demanda mundial de papel, pañuelos y embalajes.  Comenzando como productor de soda cáustica en 1972, hemos crecido hasta convertirnos en un negocio global con operaciones en toda Indonesia y China con una capacidad de conversión combinada anual de papel, pasta de papel y producto de embalaje de más de 20 millones de toneladas por año. En la actualidad, Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas comercializa sus productos en más de 150 países en los seis continentes.

Este crecimiento está guiado por nuestra visión de un futuro mejor. Es lo que nos hace avanzar, creando nuevas formas de vivir e innovar. Con el paso de los años, hemos expandido nuestras operación a través de la adquisición y expansión de nuestras fábricas de papel y pasta de papel. For almost 50 years, Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas has been growing together with you, innovating and delivering quality products to meet the growing global demand for fine printing and writing paper, consumer and industrial packaging products, and tissue paper. Let us take a step back in time and revel in our journey from our humble beginning.

Humble Beginning

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas' founder, Eka Tjipta Widjaja, migrated from Fujian, China, to Makassar, Indonesia in 1930. In 1938, when he was just 15 years old, he worked tirelessly selling biscuits and candies from door to door to help his parents financially. By 1960, his hard work paid off when he eventually could afford to establish a small trading company called CV. Sinar Mas, which focused on importing textiles and exporting natural resources. Then in 1972, he ventured into a caustic soda manufacturing business by establishing PT. Tjiwi Kimia, which later became PT. Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia Tbk., in Mojokerto, Surabaya.

Transformation - 1975

PT. Pindo Deli Pulp & Paper Mill was started in Karawang, West Java

Transformation - 1976

PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper - Tangerang Mill was formed as a joint venture between CV. Berkat, Chung Hwa Pulp Corporation and Yuen Foong Yu Paper Manufacturing Company Ltd.

Transformation - 1982

PT. Ekamas Fortuna was established in Malang, East Java

Transformation - 1990

PT. Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia Tbk. was listed on Jakarta & Surabaya Stock Exchange

Transformation - 1991

PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper - Serang Mill was established

Transformation - 1994

PT. Pindo Deli Pulp & Paper Mill was acquired under APP; PT. Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry started the first commercial operation

Transformation - 2003

PT. The Univenus started the first commercial operation

Transformation - 2012

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas launched its Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2020 which encompassed issues such as biodiversity and habitat protection, social and human rights, carbon and peatland management, production impact, third party certification and responsible sourcing.

Transformation - 2013

To help realize the SRV2020, Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas launched its Forest Conservation Policy to protect natural forests within its pulpwood supplier concession areas as identified by the High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS).

Transformation - 2014

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas committed to support the protection and restoration of one million hectares of forest in Indonesia. The chairman Mr. Teguh Ganda Wijaya was invited by the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to participate in the 2014 UN Climate Summit - New York. At the UN Climate Summit Forests Pavilion, Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas was the only pulp and paper company in the world to publicly support the New York Declaration on Forest.

Transformation - 2015

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas and its suppliers have allocated approximately 600,000 hectares for conservation within its suppliers’ concessions and for ecosystem restoration.

PT OKI Pulp & Paper Mills started the first commercial operation
