Asia Pulp and Paper hosts first ever specialty road show in South Africa

Cape Town, 27thJuly 2016 – Asia Pulp &Paper (APP) showcased new products for the South African market for the first time at a speciality road show in Cape Town last week. The road show featured guests from across the packaging, print and paper industries coming together to review the products being introduced and discuss wider trends in the industry.

APP has operations in both Indonesia and China and is one of the world's largest vertically integrated pulp and paper companies, providing paper and packaging products and services for printers, paper Merchants, brand owners and producers of packaging and folding boxes.

The event was held on Wednesday 20th July at the Westin Hotel in Cape Town, with guests representing some of South Africa’s major retailers and producers.Anil Sharma, Head of the Product Entrepreneur Department at APP, travelled from Indonesia to give the key note speech, introducing the product ranges that APP are launching in South Africa: MG Paper, Foopak and Sinar Kraft. The event also featured a presentation from Sandeep Raina, Vice President of APP Africa, on the history of APP’s sustainability journey and their plans to build upon these efforts in the future.

Foopak greaseproof paper is formulated with an oil protection system that is impermeable to oil or grease, and is normally used in cooking or food packaging. Foopak is a 100% food grade product, which complies with US FDA & ISEGA certification and therefore is deemed safe when directly in contact with food. With Foopak, the food’s original quality and taste will remain delicious.

Sinar Kraft is APP’s premier multilayer packaging board range, Sinar Kraft, is a three-ply product consisting of pure bleached hardwood kraft fibres with an inner unbleached kraft fibre layer. The combination of excellent printability through a minimum guaranteed brightness of 83% (ISO 2470) strength and moisture resistance makes the board ideally suited to high quality dry and frozen food packaging in addition to applications across cosmetics and pharmaceutical packaging.
