"Our booth is crowded with thousands of students and they are very enthusiastic to know about sustainable concept design and the contents that we provide,” said Tan Ui Sian, Chairman of APP Japan.
In the expo, APP Japan showcased its sustainability-certified products, i.e. photocopy paper and coated paper, which are certified by the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). The company also presented other high quality products: Xerox paper, tissue and toilet paper, packaging paper and sheet board. APP’s photocopy paper is currently leading the market with around 25 percent of the market share in Japan.
“Since APP’s adoption of the Forest Conservation Policy (FCP) in 2013, we have been constantly innovating in order to deliver high quality products responsibly and sustainably to our consumers,” added Tan
In addition to presenting its high quality products in the expo, APP Japan shared information about the progress of APP Group sustainability initiatives, including the FCP and its signature Integrated Forestry and Farming System (IFFS), in which the company is committed to developing 500 villages in and around its concession areas in five provinces in Indonesia by 2020 using an agro-forestry concept. Launched in 2015, the IFFS has so far covered 173 villages.
“The company has shown much progress since we launched the (IFFS) program in 2015. Now, two of our products have attained the world’s largest forest certification,” said Haruyoshi Takeuchi, director of PEFC Asia Promotions.
