On February 5th 2013, Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Group launched its Forest Conservation Policy (FCP). This policy, which saw the introduction of a moratorium on natural forest clearance, was widely welcomed by stakeholders around the world. Since that day, APP has been working hard to implement this policy by carrying out a series of assessments to identify which parts of its concessions should be protected.
On February 5th 2014, we will hold our FCP One Year Anniversary event, at which a panel discussion will be held to address the challenges associated with introducing a zero deforestation policy in Indonesia. The panel will include representatives from APP, The Forest Trust, High Conservation Value assessor Ekologika, and members of the stakeholder community including Greenpeace.
During the event, we will also report on the progress APP’s has achieved in the first year of the FCP implementation. The full report will be made available here. You can also review past FCP reports and progress here.
